Amoxicillin - Uses, Side Effects, Dosage, and Precautions
Amoxicillin is a widely used antibiotics that belongs to the penicillin group of medicines. it helps fight bacterial infections by stopping the growth of bacteria. it is commonly prescribed for ear, nose, throat, lung, urinary, and skin infections.
USES
- Treats respiratory tract infections like pneumonia and bronchitis
- Cures ear, nose, and throat infections
- Effective against urinary tract infections (UTIs)
- Used for certain skin infections
- sometimes prescribed with other medicines for Helicobacter pylori infections in the stomach
DOSAGE (General information only)
- Adults: 250-500mg every 8 hours OR 500-875mg every 12 hours
- Children: Dose based on weight (as per doctor's advice)
- Can be taken with or without food
- Complete the full course, even if you feel better, to prevent antibiotic resistance
SIDE EFFECTS
Common:
- Nausea or vomiting
- Diarrhea
- Skin rash
- Severe allergic reaction (difficulty breathing, swelling of face/lips)
- Liver problems (yellowing of skin/eyes)
- Severe diarrhea (possible C. difficile infection)
PRECAUTIONS
